Welcome to my website!

I am a social scientist working on international migration governance with a strong focus on the politicization of migration, its manifestation and its effects in liberal democracies. My research is driven by the desire to contribute to the understanding about the ongoing increasing polarization in politics and society, and illiberal tendencies in liberal democracies.
On this page you will find an overview of my current research, publications, teaching activities, and ongoing events, such as presentations. If you want to know more, want to invite me for a lecture, or have an idea for a work cooperation feel free to reach out. And if you also like Twitter you can find me there as well, I tweet mostly about migration.
“Look again at that dot. That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every “superstar,” every “supreme leader,” every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there-on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.[…]” Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot.
